TWO AND A HALF MEN III

TWO and a half MEN

part III

The therapist

Berta, the housemaid, is not the only sarcastic character on the show who is aware of Charlie and Alan's family issues. Dr.Linda Freeman, who happens to be Jake's therapist in season 1, becomes the confidant of the two brothers throughout the 8 seasons. She even stays and provides sarcastic counseling sessions for Walden during the later seasons.

the first time Dr.Freeman appears on the show we see her as a child therapist with toys all over her preschool-looking office and she is talking to Jake about issues he had in school.

Alan and Charlie's childhood issues

In a different session, Linda tries to get deep inside Alan's childhood memory and figure out the roots of his anger toward Charlie. She also asks Charlie to sit on one of the kids' chairs and pretend to be Judith, Alan's Ex-wife. And that's where Dr.Freeman triggers Alan's rage and he reveals his hidden anger by hitting Charlie with a soft toy.

Charlie's constipation over a love triangle

When Charlie is engaged to Chelsea and he is trying hard to be a committed man, he runs into Mia, his ex-fiancee. This is the point that brings back all his memories with Mia to him and he feels like he wants her back. Mia, who regrets calling the wedding off with Charlie, wants to get back to him too and as she finds out Charlie is engaged she pretends that she only wants Charlie to assist her in her new singing project.

Charlie discusses this with Chelsea and as she does want to look open-minded, she gives him the OK. but this is where Charlie finds himself in a love dilemma and this affects his guts and he can not have a bowel movement for days. And again Dr.freeman comes to the rescue.

Charlie finally tells Mia that he is over her and as soon as he makes up his mind, he goes to the bathroom and gets rid of his problem.

One of the funniest scenes with Dr.freeman is when Charlie dates a woman twenty years older than him. he finds himself in a safe relationship with a woman for the first time and surprisingly he does not want to have sex with her. when he brings home his new date, who happens to be the author of a book on success in relationships, Alan finds her attractive as well and he kind of tries to steal her attention and spend time with her.

Charlie asks for an emergency meeting with Dr.freeman and she reveals to him that this woman is in fact a mother figure to Charlie. the short meeting concludes in five minutes and when Charlie asks how much he needs to pay, she says: "well it's 200 dollars for an hour. We talked for five minutes. Then 200 will be fine." and Charlie responds:" wow! even hookers prorate!" and Dr.freeman says: "hookers don't have to listen to you." Charlie leaves the money on the table and leaves and Dr.freeman puts the money in her bra. When she calls her next patient to walk in, we see Alan in the waiting room who is going to talk to her about the same woman.
